BET did! The stylish kids behind the BET Lifestyle blog were out to document the (impeccably dressed) droves last Friday night for our final One Step Beyond throwdown of the season. If you were at the American Museum of Natural History, getting your mind blown by Talib Kweli, Buckshot, Kidz in the Hall, and Pete Rock, link us to your photo stream in the comments. Share and share alike; our pics will be up soon, too.

In our wrap-up of our most recent One Step Beyond, we forgot to include this great little piece from NPR. One of the station’s producers took his girlfriend to learn about quasars and Simian Mobile Disco last Friday. Hear his report here.

The party sold out so fast that a lot of you didn’t snag tix in time to catch Simian Mobile Disco at our One Step Beyond throwdown last Friday. Not to worry: we’ve got plenty of coverage for you. Pitchfork and our own 24-hr Photo photographer each caught some amazing shots of DJ Servito’s set and SMD’s light show, and Vanity Fair even graced us with their dignified presence. Did you make it to the museum and have feedback? Share it in the comments below, and stay tuned for ticket-purchase details on April’s One Step Beyond installment, featuring minimal wonder Matthew Dear.

Looks like the Internet had a swell time at our last OSB party! Check out what some New York partiers thought about it, plus scope photo galleries from Nicky Digital and our own 24hr Photo crew.

We know there are loads of choices when it comes to partying in NYC, even partying in a museum in NYC. Heck, it’s our business to know, and to share ‘em with you. But with the plethora of options for boozing with old masters or meteorites, we’re stoked that fellow arbiters of good taste New York magazine chose One Step Beyond as the the Best Museum Party in New York. While we take a moment to bask in this golden glow of adoration, you can get a jump on this month’s party — featuring a LIVE set from Simian Mobile Disco — and purchase your tix online. Last week’s shindig with Jazzy Jeff sold out in advance, so securing tickets now is a smart move.

Our partners at BuzzD, the team behind Flavorpill Mobile, have been making headlines lately. In addition to developing a great partnership with Helio Mobile, they’ve been winning awards on the global mobile scene.
On our end, we’ve got some updates to the system queued up which should increase usability for everyone. If you haven’t tried it out yet, give it a whirl. You can sample it right in your browser.

The LA Times did a piece last week on “email newsletters,” and gave us a shout, along with other online brands. Reporter Alana Semuels interviewed our co-founder Mark Mangan, who commented on our increased competition: “We’ve been looking over our shoulders for seven years, wondering why no one else was doing this.” Of course, we’re trying to stay ahead of the game with new apps like Flavorpill Mobile, giving you access to our events listings via your phone.

Thanks to all the party people who came out to the American Museum of Natural History on Friday. We know some of you had to wait in line, but hopefully the night’s entertainment made up for that (and now you know to show up early!). After rocking with Mikey, his black mags, and the Cool Kids, the One Step Beyond crowd got a surprise visit from Mr. West. Kanye jumped onstage to join Kid Sister for her hit “Pro Nails.” And although he looked “like my grandma” according to Kid Sister, Kanye rapped as fresh as ever. Afterwards, Kanye ran through a mini-set of his Graduation hits before DJ A-Trak stepped up the tempo with dance-floor bangers till quitting time. Brooklyn Vegan’s got some good photos of the night — check ours at our 24 Hour Photo gallery; and the New York Times even gave us a shout out. So, did you have fun? What could we improve for the next party, with DJ Jazzy Jeff (Friday, February 29)? Holler back in the comments section.

We like it when people appreciate us. This month, Chicago Magazine featured us in their Top 171 Great Chicago Websites under the “Finding Stuff” category. Fitting, as we’re pretty good at helping you “find stuff” to do. Although we generally refer to them as great cultural options as opposed to “stuff,” we couldn’t agree more. We scanned the piece; you can view it here.

We don’t mean to brag, but, OK we do: if you didn’t catch it last week, we’re proud to announce Flavorpill founder Sascha Lewis‘ place in the Silicon Alley Insider’s Top 100. Coming in at a respectable (if chuckle-inducing) #69, Sascha joins the ranks of illustrious Net dudes and dudettes including: Engadget and RCRD LBL founder (and former Denton squire at Gizmodo), #41 Peter Rojas, Gothamist founders Jen Chen and Jake Dobkin (#78), and tech-set nexus Charlie O’Donnell (#71), whose next step is the “anti-stealth” launch of his start-up, Path101. If only they could’ve gotten a better picture…
