Are you a design nut or photography fan? We’re currently seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented individual to work with the Flavorpill Image Department staff. The ideal candidate has a love for imaging and design, the ability to work in a fast-paced online-publishing environment, and the desire to grow with the Flavorpill family.

Responsibilities include working with the Image Editor to oversee image sourcing for all Flavorpill city and cultural publications; acquiring and processing images from galleries, designers, PR agencies, music venues, etc; seeking out artists to showcase in the Flavorpill cover gallery; and brainstorming, designing, and executing new website and mailer features.

Applicants should possess diligent attention to detail, a strong design sense, and excellent Photoshop skills, including comprehensive knowledge of color correcting and photo re-touching. Strong interpersonal communication skills and positive disposition are a must; interest in the art world, knowledge of music, film, and/or writing, and basic knowledge of HTML are all a plus.

This position is part-time, three days a week, located in our Manhattan office. Salary is hourly and commensurate with experience. Send your resume and cover letter as Word documents to imaging[at]flavorpill.com. Hope to see you round the water cooler!

Calling All Copyeditors

Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 11:42 am by in Jobs

We’re currently seeking a seasoned copyeditor to work in our Manhattan office. In addition to having a strong sense of proper grammar, punctuation, and listing/article structure, copyeditors are responsible for knowing the Flavorpill Style Guide, which hews closely to the Chicago Manual of Style, inside and out. The right person can balance between getting copy perfectly clean and retaining our fun, engaging Fpill voice (you love it!). Experience with web publishing and content-management systems is a plus. One to two years of solid copyediting experience is required.

It’s a part-time position; approximately 20-24 hours /week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, at an hourly rate based on experience, with the potential to hire on as a full-time employee. Email cover letters and resumes to nyc_editorial_jobs@flavorpill.com, and if there’s a cultural area that you’re well-suited to work on, please specify.

Are you a culture vulture-in-training? We’re currently looking for interns to work here in our NYC HQ during the summer semester and beyond. Interns handle a variety of tasks at Flavorpill — but not fetching coffee, we promise — including fact-checking, image sourcing, formatting, and writing giveaway questions. Interns also work with editors to write fresh content for the NYC city guide; qualified candidates will also have the opportunity to contribute to other Flavorpill cultural publications. Candidates must be detail oriented and have a flair for the written word, as well as possess a strong knowledge of culture, including music, fashion, literature, film, and/or visual art. The internship requires a commitment of two full days per week. Interns will receive a daily stipend; college credit is available if applicable. Email nyc_interns[at]flavorpill.com and include a resume, writing sample, any areas of specialized knowledge, and a brief cover letter explaining why you would be a good fit for the Flavorpill family. Hope to see you around the water cooler…

Wanted: LA Sales Intern

Mon Feb 18, 2008 at 4:16 pm by in Jobs

Our west coast sales guru Judah is in the market for an intern, so if you’re a college student or freelancer out in sunny Los Angeles, hit him up. Interns have a chance to assist with the RFP process, building out media plans, managing sales tools, and creating sales presentations. All we ask is that you be organized and motivated, have a good understanding of Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint), and be interested in online sales. Since our official west-coast mascot, Izzy, is a slobbering ball of love, it might also help if you like ridiculously cute bulldogs.

In return for your 20 or so hours a week, we’ll provide a stipend, and hook you up with tix to parties, concerts, and other awesome LA events we list. Email Judah if you’re interested, or pass this on to someone you think would be!

Wanted: Interns to fill Office Space

Wed Jan 2, 2008 at 5:10 pm by in Jobs, Office Life, Staff

lumbergh.jpgFlavorpill is a company proudly built from the bottom up. We consistently promote from within, and currently employ six of our former interns in high-level editorial positions! With this constant internal sourcing, we’re now in need of some new blood. Ideal editorial intern candidates are already savvy, detail-oriented cultural students, with a passion for visual art, literature, music, dance, theatre, and/or film. We rely on our interns to handle a heavy load of factchecking and event formatting, so the more nitpicky, the better. Starting hours are 15-25 a week, with an opportunity to take on more responsibility (like writing for the site and mailers). A daily stipend is provided, and college credit is available. We’re also in need of a promotions assistant. All those tickets up for grabs in our mailers don’t just give themselves away — help to solicit and manage giveaways for the city mailers, allocate prizes, and follow up with winners. To apply for either of these intern positions, email nyc_interns@flavorpill.net with your resume and a brief explanation as to why you’d be a good fit for the Flavorpill family. Please remember to specify which internship you’re applying for in your application.
